The Holidays: You are not alone
December 23, 2018Becoming
January 23, 2019Happy New Year, Everyone! I hope that you found strength and peace in whatever you chose to do. This holiday season was difficult. I felt raw. I felt grief. I felt pain. I also felt love. I was truly grateful that I was able to feel. This was a complete 180 from last year, where I was so deep in the abyss that my loved ones worried I would never come out.
I am thinking of you. I am here to tell you that it is ok, that you do not feel ok. You are not the poster child for putting on a happy face when all you are able to do is suffer. For those who don’t get it, I will say this again. No one chooses to be depressed. Depression is a mental illness. If it pisses you off that everyone is talking about it, then maybe you need to evaluate why that bothers you.
Depression is not a fad. The bandwagon does not exist.
