Bad Decisions
September 26, 2019August sucked. Let’s move on. But before I say goodbye to the heaviness that is August, I want to share a few phrases that I hate. It seems that I hear them quite a bit during this month.
- It was for the best.
- Time will help you heal.
- It’s not your fault.
- She knew how you felt.
- You did your best.
- It’s a part of life. (I think I hate this one the most)
- She would not want you to be sad.
I am sure that there are more, but this is what is coming to mind right now. When you lose someone those around you are sometimes at a loss for what to say. Death has the ability to bring out the best and worst in people. I find that acknowledging the pain, and the weight, helps me to get through. Guilt and regret are heavy burdens to carry. I don’t have a magic phrase that will ease the load. I wish I did.
Are there other phrases that you know, which are meant and said out of a place of caring, but do not help you to feel better? Let’s share.
